THE NTD INNOVATION PRIZE IS PAUSED FOR 2024

UPDATES EXPECTED IN 2025

Will final pitches be virtual or in-person?

  • The Innovation Prize is working with the NNN Conference to determine the best format for final pitches and winner selection. More information will follow soon.

Can I participate in the competition if I’m not planning attend the NNN conference?

  • Yes, you may submit an abstract even if you aren’t sure you will attend NNN. However, if selected as a finalist, it is strongly recommended the primary applicant be registered and in attendance.

What if my idea requires funding above the prize amount?

  • During the application process you may be asked to provide more information on the total cost to implement your idea. While projects may have budgets exceeding the $40,000 award, we encourage applications to consider lean approaches, especially when testing ideas. The prize is not designed to support large-scale implementation, but rather to fill gaps in funding to launch an idea.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

  • Yes, you may submit more than one abstract for different ideas, but you may not have more than one idea progress to the final round.

When will I know if I’m a semi-finalist or finalist for the prize?

  • Semi-finalists will be notified by June 2, 2023 and finalists by July 21 via email from info@ntdinnovation.org. Any changes to these dates will be communicated with applicants via email. Please ensure emails from info@ntdinnovation.org do not go to spam.

Will I receive feedback from reviewers regarding my idea?

  • No. Applicants who don’t proceed to the semi-finalist and finalist rounds will receive a general email notification, but not specific feedback. Reviewer ratings or comments will not be shared.

If I applied in a previous year may I reapply? Can I resubmit the same idea?

  • Yes, as long as your idea is still considered innovative and meets the criteria, you are welcome to reapply using an idea submitted in previous years.

Can we submit as a team?

  • Yes, abstracts may be submitted by an individual or team. However, the application materials don’t include a place to list multiple members. Please indicate the primary applicant who will serve as the point of contact with the prize organizers.

Can I include photos in my abstract?

  • No, please do not include photos, graphs or other visuals with your abstract submission. They will be removed before review. If you progress to the semi-finalist round, you will have the opportunity to include photos or demonstrations in the video.

Who are the reviewers and judges?

  • The reviewers will remain anonymous. They are subject matter experts within the field of mapping, NTDs, and spatial analysis, coming from a variety of organizations and countries. Reviewers sign a confidentiality and conflict of interest agreement.

Can I serve as a reviewer?

  •  Applicants cannot serve as reviewers, but others are invited to complete the call for reviewers form and a member of our team will be in touch.
